Tiffany & Co. Jewelry Design and Innovation Workshop x Lauren Coleman
“Tiffany is such an iconic New York jewelry house that it was a real privilege to be invited to witness every stage involved in crafting the pieces, and to learn about the many skilled trades and techniques involved.”
Lauren Coleman is a California-born, Brooklyn-based photographer focusing on still life imagery and the intimacy of the world around her. Nature and science are her favorite themes, and she strives to capture the beauty that springs up in the spaces between the two.
The American photographer looked through her own singular prism at Tiffany & Co.’s New York workshop, where the House’s iconic jewelry and unique designs are crafted down to the tiniest detail. She was fascinated by seeing state-of-the-art technology used alongside craft techniques passed down countless generations, and she wanted to capture all the magic of high jewelry.
The shifting colors of precious metals – liquefying as they are worked over a flame – inspired a photographic series that captures and magnifies the beauty of this technique, focusing on the fleeting moments where scientific precision comes together with nature at its most elemental.
